Forward Energy and Using Good Angles in Wing Chun
Let’s talk about using good angles in Wing Chun to propel our forward energy!
Here’s the difference between Good Angles and Bad Angles when entering your opponent’s space:
Bad Angle
- Your arm is collapsed and pinned against yourself
- You close the distance but you’re in your opponent’s space and they’re in control
Good Angle
- You close the distance and maintain space between you and your opponent
- Your arm is NOT collapsed, you maintain your form, and you disrupt your opponent’s centerline
I will revisit this topic in the future but in the meantime, what do you think about angles and forward energy? If you don’t have experience with it, keep it in mind the next time you’re training and let me know how it goes in the comments!
